Getting Prepared to Buy a Home?
how soon should I contact an agent?
If you have started your search online, you are checking out all the great photos and trying to imagine how you’ll feel cooking in your new kitchen, or decorating for holidays.
But did you know that some agents are paying to have a conversation with you? It’s a necessary evil in this market, but now the agent is “picking” you, instead of you “choosing” your agent.
the best time to contact an agent is before you start searching.
Meet with your agent ahead of time. Share your goals with them so they can prepare a personalized plan. Another benefit of working with a buyers agent that you may not have known is it’s confidential. This means that you can openly discuss your special situation with them. You won’t have to worry if the agent that you are talking with has your best interest at heart.
The other huge benefit is getting financially healthy. Many homebuyers who start looking without their own agent, end up spending more money. They weren’t given time to shop for discounts or learn tricks to saving when they buy.

Common statements we hear
I heard from the agent only once and then they just emailed me listings.
I won’t be ready to buy for 6 months and it seems like they want me to be ready sooner.
The listings sent to me were okay, but none matched what I really needed.
I didn’t receive any info on how the process works in our area, or what steps to take.
I have a limit on what I want to spend and they sent me homes out of my price range.
I want to put down a large deposit if that will help me but they haven’t shared with me how to do that.
